Lesson 5: Writing and Reflecting
In this lesson students will both reflect on their own progress as a writer and think about how to make their Soapbox speech more compelling and personal. They will begin to work on a rough draft of their speech.
Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes, and audiences.
Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 8 issues, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly.
D4.1.6-8.
Construct arguments using claims and evidence from multiple sources, while acknowledging the strengths and limitations of the arguments.
