Strategies to foster community and empathy

Participation in an SVC requires students to take risks, ask questions, and practice new skills. Taking the time to build a safe and supporting atmosphere at the beginning of the year will create a foundation for student success. We encourage you to take time throughout the year to build trust, empathy, and critical thinking. There also might be times when your group needs to refocus, reenergize, recommit, and just have fun.
